Winner And Casino Argue Over $1M

What would you do if you thought you won $1M in a slot machine and then the casino tells you that it was a mistake, that you only won $8,000?  I know one thing – if I was sure that the $1M sign lit up, then I would bug the heck out of that casino to pay up and I am pretty sure that anyone in that position would do the same thing, right?

Well, it happened to this woman named Florida Eash in Mississipi.  According to news reports, she thought she won the slot jackpot when the $1M sign lit up.  IP Casino, a Biloxi casino, however, stands by their statement that she only won $8,000.  Naturally, Florida Eash took her case to the court.  Lawyers for the casino are saying that a programming error caused the erroneous sign to light up.

The Mississipi Gaming Commission took the side of Eash and declared that she won a million bucks.  However, a judge later on took the side of the casino.  Circuit Judge Roger Clark is quoted as saying “When a patron sits down to play a slot machine, such as the slot machine at issue, and looks at the payout schedule of that machine, the patron cannot expect the recovery of anything other than what it shows at that time on the faceplate of the machine.”

The case in now with the state Supreme Court, which has not given out its decision as of yet.  What do you think will happen?
