This issue is definitely not a new one. In fact, smoking in casinos has long been an issue with a lot of people. On the one hand, we have those who consider smoking to be part of the casino experience. On the other hand, we have people who are concerned for the general wellbeing of the nonsmokers who are inevitably to be found in any casino. We are talking not only about the casino patrons but the workers who spend more time in the casino premises as well.
One of the most recent bits of news about the smoking in casinos issue is the statement that Connecticut Attorney General has issued. AG Richard Blumenthal has stated that he will be backing up a proposal to ban smoking in the state’s 2 casinos. According to Blumenthal, this move is in response to the agreement that has been reached between the casino operators and the governor. This agreement allows the casino operators to continue to permit smoking within their premises as long as they install advanced air filtration and ventilation systems. The operators also have plans to expand the nonsmoking section of their casinos in order to protect the health of their nonsmoking patrons.
Now, what do you think of all this? Are the efforts of the casino operators enough to allow smoking in their premises? Or should they be more considerate of the nonsmoking patrons and totally disallow smoking? What about their smoking patrons?
It is a bundled mess, isn’t it?
