Newbie Sets Dice Record In Atlantic City

Saturday night was a good night for Patricia Demauro, who made a record for holding the dice at craps in an Atlantic City casino. According to Demauro, she really does not have that much experience with craps. In fact, she said that she had only played the game once before.

On Saturday, she began playing around 8 in the evening at the craps tables at the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa. She started winning and continued playing. Without even noticing, she had played for four hours and eighteen minutes. The best part is that she never lost all that time!

Naturally, her lucky streak got the attention of people in the casino. A casino dealer narrates:

I joined them, and found she had been going already for more than three hours. The pit bosses were saying it might be a record, and she played for an hour after that.

The previous record for holding the dice at craps used to belong to a 20-year-old guy from Honolulu who played in Las Vegas. That record was a little less than 3 hours long.

So anyway, Demauro is now a celebrity by her own right in the casino circuit. She attributes her winning to beginner’s luck; I say what amazing beginner’s luck that is! How much did she win exactly? Neither Demauro nor the casino has released any statement containing that detail. I am not surprised. If I were Demauro, I would keep it to myself as well. Letting the world know that I set a record is enough information to share.
