In spite of the name of the game, craps is not all that bad. In fact, it is one of the most enjoyable casino games that you can try your hand at. If you have not tried craps yet, maybe it’s time that you did! So what is craps all about? In order to understand this game – which many think is complicated, but isn’t really – you need to understand a few things.
One of the first things that you need to know is the passline bet. You need to place your bet on the passline BEFORE the person betting (or the shooter) rolls. Now, watch out for what the shooter rolls. If he gets a 7 or an 11, then you WIN. However, if he gets a 2, 3, or 12, then you LOSE. Other numbers that the shooter rolls, then you have a point number. The rule is that the shooter has to roll this number again before he can roll a 7. If this situation arises, then you win even money. On the other hand, if he rolls a 7 before he rolls the point number, then you lose. Simple enough?
Here’s another thing to understand about craps – the odds bet. This bet is made once a point number is rolled. The odds bet is actually an additional bet that you make after the passline bet. Though different casinos may have different rules, in general, you are allowed to make an odds bet double that of your passline bet. This is how the odds bet is paid out:
If the point is 4 or 10 it pays 2 to 1
If the point is 5 or 9 it pays 3 to 2
If the point is 6 or 8 it pays 6 to 5.
Not so crappy, isn’t it?
