Dodge City, Kansas Casino Opens; Goal is to Generate Revenue for the State

Remember Dodge City, Gunsmoke, Marshall Matt Dillon and Miss Kitty (who ran the saloon)?

Well those wild days (hell, it was just a TV show) may not be returning, but gambling in Dodge City sure is, when a casino legally opened in Dodge City, Kansas.

Big difference is that the gambled money will help state beneficiaries, much as the state lottery does.

Slots and roulette wheels were the most popular games played on day one, reports say.

It’s called the Boot Hill casino. What else?

Boot Hill is the first casino complex built under the Kansas law (2007) that allows one casino in four different areas of the state. Goal is to generate revenue for Kansas, and it will no doubt work.

The casino has 584 slot machines and 12 tables for blackjack, poker, craps and roulette, along with a bar, a restaurant and a snack bar.

Can other states be far behind on this?

What the heck, I hope not.
