Whether or not it is a publicity stunt, the fact remains that charity will be benefiting from a test run of the latest Sands casino. The Las Vegas Sands is set to open up a new casino in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. The target date is sometime at the end of May, but they are planning on conducting test runs earlier. The test runs are scheduled for May 18 and May 20, and the best part is that all the proceeds will be going to a good cause. Casino Gaming Stock has this report:
The Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem is scheduled to open to the general public May 22nd. The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board has given permission for Sands to invite guests to test operational procedures.
Since the actual gaming will not be permitted until the 22nd, casino winnings will be donated by Las Vegas Sands to a series of thirteen charities.
The organizations were not named by Sands officials, but they are all from the Bethlehem area, a region of the US that has been economically depressed for some time.
The casino is located at the site of the old Bethlehem steel mill, previously the life-blood of the local economy.
It may seem to the cynics that the officials of the casino have decided to give the money to charities because they have no permit to operate on the dates of the said run, but as I said earlier, at least people in need will benefit from it. If you are in the area, why not have a couple of great nights at the casino AND help others at the same time?
