Amex: No To Online Casinos

Much has happened since the day former US President George W. Bush signed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Act and made it into a law. At that time, people had various reactions. There were those who were excited because they thought that it was what was needed to deal with gambling. Then there were those who were dismayed because it was (obviously) a disadvantage. Of course, some of these people also knew that one day, things would change and that gambling over the Internet would be allowed in the United States yet again.

And it seems that we were right. While the act has not been repealed, all signs point to that happening in the near future. Pretty soon, we might be facing the happy reality of being able to gamble with real money online yet again. Indeed, some establishments have already announced that they are looking upon online casinos favorably.

Take a look at Yahoo and Google – have you noticed that they are showing ads for online casinos again? That can only mean something good, don’t you think? Then there is PayPal, which has quickly become one of the premier means to carry out financial transactions online. PayPal has announced that they will be accepting transactions relating to casinos.

But then again, not everyone is jumping into the bandwagon, as disappointing as it may seem. American Express, in particular, is taking a firm stand against online gambling. While some casinos are saying that they accept deposits from Amex, the financial icon says that “It is a long-standing policy that American Express cannot be accepted for gambling – either online or offline. Any merchant found to be in violation of this policy is terminated immediately from card acceptance.”

So what do you say, let’s get another credit card?
