Alcohol Round The Clock?

If you were a casino operator and you saw your revenues dropping significantly, what would you do? I am sure that you would be running around to find a way to get your revenues to go up once again. The question then is what measures you should take.
For the owners of the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Resort Casino, the answer lies in alcohol. They are currently in talks with the authorities in Connecticut, the aim of which is to seek permission to serve alcohol for longer periods of time. The rationale behind the casino’s request is that they are experiencing drastic cuts in their revenues due to the increasingly strong competition coming from Atlantic City casinos, which serve alcohol for much longer hours. Currently, the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Resort Casino sells liquor till 1 in the morning on weekdays and till 2 in the morning on weekends. If their proposal is approved, they just might be able to serve alcohol round the clock!
This got me thinking – why would casinos want to serve alcohol round the clock? The answer seems to be pretty simple. Think about how you act and behave when you’ve had several units of alcohol in you. You’d probably want to stay longer at the casino – longer than you originally intended to. You’d probably want to spend more than you had planned as well. Both of these tendencies would naturally favor the casino.
Now why wouldn’t they want to serve alcohol for extended hours? You tell me!
Now THIS is great gaming news! What do I do now?
